Locum Consultant in Acute Medicine

The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust is recruiting a Locum Consultant to join the Acute Medicine team. The closing date is 26 September 2025.
Acute Medicine works closely with the Emergency Medicine team and all medical specialties, and you will be involved in the development of clinical pathways to improve patient outcomes. You will, with a team of 10 Acute Physicians, be responsible for the care of patients on the 28 bed Medical Assessment Unit, Same Day Emergency Care Unit and Short Stay (Charnley) Unit. You will be supported by a full multi-disciplinary team, including a junior medical team and Advanced Nurse Practitioners.
You should be able to demonstrate extensive experience in Acute Medicine, and preferably possess CCT in Acute Medicine, or General Medicine with a specialty interest.
Main duties of the jobThis post carries the normal decision making responsibilities of any Consultant appointment. You will see patients referred to the Acute service and take clinical responsibility for decision making of treatment for patients under your care. This will include involvement and shared decision making with other clinical groups (nurses, physiotherapists, radiographers, etc) and non-clinical groups including management. You will be expected to support and instruct the decision making of junior colleagues from an educational and care delivery point of view.

Person Specification Qualifications & Registration- Full GMC Registration and licence to practise
- Entry of GMC Specialist Register in Acute Medicine
- MRCP
- AIM SCE
- Recognised qualification in echocardiogram or ultrasound
- Valid ALS or equivalent
- Achieved Qualifications
- Years Experience
