Locum Consultant Dermatologist - Mohs Surgery

This post is for 6.5 PA's and is for a fixed term period of 12 months and will provide Dermatological services across two sites at The Royal Wolverhampton Foundation NHS Trust and Walsall Manor Hospital NHS Trust.
The successful candidate will be expected to work with professional colleagues and local managers to provide a Dermatological service to Wolverhampton and Walsall Hospital. The principal duties of the post will include:
1. To assist the current team and have responsibility for ensuring a commitment to provide a high quality of Dermatology Services to patients by continual development of practice in the light of evidence-base, and clinical standards.2. To partake in Skin Cancer MDT.3. To provide advice to colleagues in other specialties on Dermatology care. 4. To provide a comprehensive Outpatient service, undertake Mohs surgery and report slides independently.5. To provide clinical support and teaching to resident and specialty doctors, Medical Students and Postgraduate Medical Education.6. To support and encourage audit and research.7. To have responsibility for ensuring a commitment to maintaining a high quality of service to patients.8. To actively participate in CPD and personal development plans.9. To undertake Teledermatology triage of referrals
Main duties of the jobIn conjunction with the Clinical Lead, Group Manager and Senior colleagues, to provide dermatological services to:
- To provide cover for Consultant and Senior colleagues in respect of periods of leave.
- In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, to take part in medical audit and research as appropriate.
- In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, to ensure that the requirements of clinical governance are met.
- To ensure that there are adequate arrangements for hospital staff involved in the care of your patients to be able to contact you when necessary.

The Trust also has rehabilitation beds at West Park Hospital Cannock Chase Hospital.

o Urgent Treatment Centres at New Cross Hospital and Phoenix Health Centre.
Job responsibilitiesIn conjunction with Divisional Manager, Consultant and Senior Colleagues, to take an active role in the management of the Division.
- In conjunction with the Divisional Manager, Consultant & Senior colleagues, to play a full part in developing & implementing new ways of working in line with modernisation principles and fit for the future.
- In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, to take responsibility for the best use of departmental staffing and other resources to ensure the maximum efficiency of the department.
- To observe the Trusts agreed policies and procedures, in particular in relation to managing staff, and to follow the Trusts Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instructions. These policies and procedures have been drawn up in consultation with the profession on clinical matters.
- Full registration and a licence to practise with the GMC
- On the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT from the date of interview
- Evidence of completion and certification from a BSDS or ACMS accredited self-reporting sign off Mohs fellowship (must be submitted at time of application). The Mohs surgeon will be expected to independently report their own slides.
- A specialist interest in skin cancer
- Evidence of Higher Specialist Training in Dermatology (or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from date of interview)
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and within a multi-disciplinary team
- Subspecialty training or equivalent
- Specific skills required to undertake the role above those required to achieve CCT.
- Subspecialty training or equivalent
- Evidence of audit and the implementation of change following the audit
- Evidence of Proficiency in Research
- Time management/organisational ability. An example may be they have developed and run training programmes
- Proven knowledge of systems and process of NHS or equivalent
