Job Description

We have an amazing opportunity for a Local Growth Officer Staffordshire to join our Growth and Communities Team.

Salary: £22,654.29 per annum (pro-rata of £31,716 per annum, Band E, Level 3) + mileage (usually £0.45 per mile)
Location: Home-based in Staffordshire
Term: Fixed-term contract Ends 31 March 2027
Hours: Part-time, 25 hours per week (including some evenings and weekends)
Driving: A full UK driving licence and regular access to a car are required

About the team and role as a Local Growth Officer Role:

As our Local Growth Officer, you ll be at the forefront of helping Scouting grow and thrive across Staffordshire. You'll support and deliver focused local growth plans, build strong relationships with key local volunteers, and ensure Scouting is accessible to all young people and adults across the region.

You ll work alongside dedicated volunteers, supporting them in opening new sections, recruiting adult volunteers, and strengthening community connections, with a key focus on inclusivity, sustainability, and positive impact.

As the Local Growth Officer, Key Responsibilities:

  • Partnering with local lead volunteers (District and Group Leads) to grow Scouting in Staffordshire.
  • Opening new Scouting provisions and helping ensure Scouting reaches underrepresented communities.
  • Coaching volunteers to build and execute sustainable, inclusive growth strategies.
  • Supporting volunteer recruitment and retention.
  • Identifying tools, training, and resources to empower local growth.

Who we re looking for as our Local Growth Officer:

  • Experienced in community engagement and volunteer support
  • Organised and self-motivated, with project management skills
  • Experience in delivering digital workshops and in-person events
  • Committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Experience working with volunteers and/or in community-based roles
  • A good understanding of the volunteer journey and how to support it
