Loader - Bulky Waste

SALARY: £28,675.92 per annum

HOURS: 39 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 06:00 - 14:30

LOCATION: Days Road, Bristol

• Collect and remove fly tipped waste from adopted highways across Bristol.
• Tipping of vehicle at designated and approved refuse facilities and loading and unloading waste material in accordance with Bristol Waste Company's policy, procedures, training and legal requirements, complying with all health and safety requirements.
• Ensure all company health and safety requirements are adhered to, including safe lifting and working practices and the use of appropriate personal protective clothing.
• Use mobile IT equipment and complete daily paperwork as appropriate.
• Undertake any training or instruction required to carry out these duties or deemed necessary to fulfil the role.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the collection vehicle and equipment.
• Remain in contact with the line manager and office staff and respond to operational needs.
• Work flexibly to provide cover as operationally required across services including Commercial, Street Cleansing, Garden Waste, Refuse and Recycling and at all Bristol Waste locations, including Hartcliffe, Avonmouth and Albert Road depots, and carry out all other tasks deemed reasonable.
• Strong practical skills in manual handling, lifting, and safe operation of equipment; proven experience in physically demanding environments.
• Ability to use mobile IT devices to record work, follow instructions, and complete daily documentation.
• Effective communication skills, enabling clear updates to supervisors and teamwork with colleagues.
• Good situational awareness and safety focus, ensuring safe working practices in public spaces and roadside environments.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload, even in changing operational conditions.
• Working knowledge of health & safety requirements, including PPE, manual handling and safe working procedures.
• Understanding of waste handling and disposal processes, including segregation and legal compliance.
• Familiarity with local geography, particularly Bristol's streets, depots and disposal facilities.
• Basic understanding of vehicle cleanliness and equipment care requirements.
