OverviewOur client is looking to add a capable Litigation Solicitor to a busy, well-regarded team in the Basildon area. The RoleYou will handle a varied civil litigation caseload, delivering a high standard of client care and helping to develop the department's offering.
Key responsibilities include:- Managing a caseload of civil litigation matters from instruction through to resolution
- Advising clients clearly on strategy, risk, costs, and next steps
- Drafting pleadings, witness statements, and settlement documentation
- Negotiating settlements and representing clients where appropriate
- Supporting business development and helping grow the litigation service line
- Maintaining excellent file management and ensuring full regulatory compliance (SRA standards)
The role will suit someone comfortable with general civil litigation, with property litigation / property disputes experience being advantageous.
Experience in any of the below is helpful:- Landlord and tenant disputes
- Boundary disputes / rights of way
- Contractual disputes
- Debt recovery
- Contentious probate (desirable, not essential)
- Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales
- 2+ years' PQE (guideline, flexibility for the right person)
- UK practice experience handling civil litigation matters
- Proven ability to run files independently with appropriate supervision
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills
- Excellent organisation, communication, and client care
- Comfortable using case management systems and Microsoft Office (or similar legal tech)
