Litigation Solicitor (Civil Litigation)

Salary: £45,000 to £65,000 DOE

Overview

Our client is looking to add a capable Litigation Solicitor to a busy, well-regarded team in the Basildon area. The Role

You will handle a varied civil litigation caseload, delivering a high standard of client care and helping to develop the department's offering.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing a caseload of civil litigation matters from instruction through to resolution
• Advising clients clearly on strategy, risk, costs, and next steps
• Drafting pleadings, witness statements, and settlement documentation
• Negotiating settlements and representing clients where appropriate
• Supporting business development and helping grow the litigation service line
• Maintaining excellent file management and ensuring full regulatory compliance (SRA standards)

Caseload / Technical Focus

The role will suit someone comfortable with general civil litigation, with property litigation / property disputes experience being advantageous.

Experience in any of the below is helpful:

• Landlord and tenant disputes
• Boundary disputes / rights of way
• Contractual disputes
• Debt recovery
• Contentious probate (desirable, not essential)

Requirements (Essential)

• Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales
• 2+ years' PQE (guideline, flexibility for the right person)
• UK practice experience handling civil litigation matters
• Proven ability to run files independently with appropriate supervision
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills
• Excellent organisation, communication, and client care
• Comfortable using case management systems and Microsoft Office (or similar legal tech)
