The roleWe are looking for anenthusiasticLawyer to join ourcommittedteam and provide legal advice and assistance and representation to client departments and partner organisations in relation to litigation matters. You will represent the Council or partner organisations in civil proceedings in the County Court, Magistrates Court, or Tribunal, on behalf of or against the Council or partner organisations.
Key requirementsYou will provide an and advice and assistance in relation to contentious legal matters across the Councils. This will include general civil litigation matters and property litigation matters and advice relating to enforcement powers and responsibilities under the Anti Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 and Renters Rights Act 2025.
You will provide support and advice in relation to Licensing matters and will act as legal advisor to the Licensing Committee when required.
Skills and experienceThe successful candidate will be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives.
Civil Litigation experience is essential.
Excellent communication skills are essential. You will be required to establish and maintain a good working relationship with client officers and staff and elected members of Bromsgrove District Council and Redditch Borough Council.

This is a full time position, but part time alternative options will be considered for the right candidate. We will consider candidates who do not meet all the requirements if they can demonstrate that they can bring value to the role.
