Litigation Secretary

Location: Southport

Full-time Office-based

My client is currently recruiting for an experienced and highly organised Litigation Secretary to join a well-established legal practice in Southport.

This is a full-time, office-based position offering the opportunity to work within a professional and supportive legal environment. The successful candidate will provide high-quality secretarial and administrative support to fee earners within the Litigation department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to Litigation fee earners
  • Preparing, formatting and proofreading legal correspondence, court documents, witness statements, and other legal documentation
  • Managing diaries, arranging appointments, and coordinating meetings
  • Handling incoming and outgoing telephone calls, emails, and correspondence professionally
  • Opening, maintaining, and closing client files in line with firm procedures
  • Managing electronic and paper filing systems and ensuring files are accurate and up to date
  • Preparing court bundles and supporting the organisation of case documentation
  • Liaising with clients, courts, counsel, experts and other third parties
  • Assisting with the preparation and submission of legal forms and documentation
  • Monitoring key dates, deadlines, and appointments
  • Supporting fee earners with case management and general administrative duties
  • Undertaking audio and copy typing as required
  • Maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information appropriately
About You
  • The successful candidate will ideally have:
  • Previous experience as a Legal Secretary, Litigation Secretary or Legal Assistant
  • Experience supporting fee earners within a Litigation or Dispute Resolution department
  • Strong audio and copy typing skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • The ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively to deadlines
  • A professional and client-focused approach
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and legal case management systems
  • The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team
