Linux Systems Engineer/Chef - Fully Remote - Outside IR35

We are searching for Linux Systems Engineer with strong experience in Chef configuration management to join our infrastructure team. You will be responsible for managing, automating, and maintaining our Linux-based environments to ensure high availability, performance, and scalability of mission-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer and maintain Linux Servers (primarily RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).

• Develop and manage infrastructure automation using Chef (cookbooks, roles, environments, and data bags).

• Troubleshoot system and service issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective measures.

• Collaborate with development and QA teams to streamline CI/CD processes using Chef and other tools.

• Ensure system security and compliance with internal and external standards.

• Monitor system performance and proactively identify and address potential issues.

• Write and maintain technical documentation and procedures.

Required Skills and Experience:

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in Linux systems administration.

• Strong experience with Chef (Chef Infra, Chef Automate is a plus).

• Proficiency in Scripting languages such as Bash, Ruby, or Python.

• Experience with version control systems (eg, Git).

• Familiarity with monitoring tools (eg, Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana).

• Knowledge of networking basics and system security best practices.

• Experience working in production environments with high uptime requirements.
