Job Description

We're not hiring people to fill a seat or add to ourheadcount. We're hiring people to craft our culture, ethos and success. This isa big deal for us, and we know it's a big deal for you: a new role defines howyou spend your days, who you spend them with, and what your future lookslike.

Together, we'll shape each other's entire trajectory. That deserves thoughtfulness, empathy and respect. It's why this jobdescription is deliberately detailed. We want you to know exactly what you'restepping into. The challenges, the opportunities, the quirks of the role, andthe kind of impact you'll have.

Us

Crafted is a series of life-friendly hotels and spaceswhere guests can be themselves and fill up on the good stuff: nature, food, wellbeing, craft, people and play. We hope to open several hotels in the comingyears, with our first coming in summer 2025: Crafted at Powdermills, EastSussex.

More specifics will follow as planning and pieces fallinto place. So, for now, here's the sentiment behind Crafted

It's easy to get overwhelmed by life. To switch toautopilot and go through the motions. We're busy but not on the things we lovedoing, we spend more time on our phone, and we misplace our bounce andspark.

We all need a tune up now and again. To escape tosomewhere that makes us feel totally at ease. Not so we can step away fromlife, but so we can come back to it. This is where Crafted comes in.

Our aim is to create a network of connected destinationsthat people come back to again and again because it's where they feel goodabout life. Somewhere to work on life, come together, and connect locally.

You

Crafted's culture will be inclusive and agile but withambitious goals and a start-up mentality. We need to execute brilliantly fromday one and every team member will contribute wherever they are able.

We're looking for an exceptional Linen Porter to joinour team at Crafted. Reporting to the Head Housekeeper, you will play a vitalrole in ensuring our housekeeping operation runs smoothly across our largegrounds. You will support the distribution, organisation, and movement of linenacross multiple buildings, helping the team deliver beautifully presentedspaces for every guest.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Collecting, transporting, and organising clean and used linen across the grounds, including multiple buildings, cottages, and public areas.
  • Ensuring all linen rooms, trolleys, and storage areas are well-stocked, tidy, and safely maintained.
  • Supporting the housekeeping team by delivering linen, towels, and amenities where needed throughout the day.
  • Monitoring linen levels and reporting shortages or issues to the Head Housekeeper.
  • Assisting with loading, unloading, and sorting laundry deliveries.
  • Helping maintain equipment and reporting any faults or repairs required.
  • Ensuring all handling of linen, chemicals, and equipment follows health and safety standards.
  • Providing support during busy periods, including helping with room or public area tasks when required.
  • Upholding a professional, polite, and helpful attitude with colleagues and guests at all times.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a housekeeping or porter role (preferred but not essential).
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage linen across a wide and varied estate.
  • Good physical fitness, as the role involves lifting, moving, and transporting linen throughout the property.
  • A positive attitude, reliability, and a strong sense of teamwork.
  • The ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • An understanding of health and safety best practices.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
Three values we'll expect you to live by:
  • Enjoy it: it's still work, but if you're having fun then so are our guests. It's ok if you're humming behind the bar or moving with the music.
  • Own it: whoever you are, and whatever your role, someone's enjoyment is in your hands. Always keep an eye out.
  • Improve it: ask for feedback (and don't be scared of what follows), and be curious. We'll give you plenty of chances to learn and develop.

Note: positive Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles are integrated across these three values.

Together

We hire people with personality who have a desire to continuously learn. Each person should bring themselves to work to shape our culture and keep us real, interesting, and original.

To create a comfortable environment for all, guest and staff, we prioritise teamwork over titles: no one's too important to lend a hand, or to new to have a good opinion. We need low egos but high expectations: people who are humble enough to jump in, and serious about making an impact.
