Lifting Appointed Person (AP) is responsible for the planning, organization, and supervision of all lifting operations on the project, ensuring they are carried out safely, in compliance with regulations, and in line with company internal standards.
This role acts as a key link between engineering, construction, and HSE teams in all lifting activities.

Lift Planning

  • Preparation of Lifting Plans, including critical lifts.
  • Selection of lifting equipment (cranes, slings, accessories).
  • Calculation of loads, radii, weights, and crane configurations.

Risk Assessment

  • Development of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
  • Identification of potential hazards (power lines, structures, wind conditions, etc.).

Operations Coordination

  • Supervision of lifting teams (crane operators, slingers, banksmen).
  • Coordination with construction, logistics, and HSE teams.
  • Verification of safe conditions prior to lifting operations.

Documentation Control

  • Review and approval of lifting plans.
  • Verification of equipment and personnel certifications.
  • Ensuring compliance with local regulations and client standards.

Site Supervision - IMPORTANT

  • Authority to stop works in case of unsafe conditions.
  • Ensuring procedures are properly followed on site.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Application of relevant regulations (LOLER, PUWER, or local equivalents).
  • Alignment with international and client-specific standards.

Mandatory: CPCS A61 - Appointed Person (UK) or an internationally recognized equivalent.
Training in:

  • Lifting Operations & Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER)
  • Safe Systems of Work/RAMS

Desirable:
NPORS Appointed Person
Training in rigging & slinging
Construction H&S training (eg 60h PRL or equivalent)
Lifting operations coordination training
Working at height certification
Advanced HSE training
