Librarian and Reading Intervention Lead

Position: Librarian and Reading Intervention Lead - Fixed term for 1 year starting 1st September 2026.

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Librarian and Reading Intervention Lead to join our team and play a key role in promoting reading, supporting learning, and nurturing curiosity in our pupils.

About the Role

• Manage the day to day running of the school library, ensuring it is organised, attractive and purposeful.
• Maintain and develop library stock, ensuring it is engaging, diverse and appropriate for our pupils.
• Promote reading for pleasure through displays, events and initiatives.
• Lead reading clubs and lunchtime sessions to engage pupils.
• Support children in selecting books and developing independence and confidence as readers.
• Work closely with teaching staff to support curriculum topics and whole school priorities.
• Create a calm, inclusive space where all children feel inspired and supported.
• Work with small groups of children and lead whole class library sessions.
• Support Pupil Premium children to encourage the love of reading and narrow the attainment gap.

• Previous experience in a library or school setting desirable, but not essential.

Requirements & Conditions

• Support for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable groups.
• Commitment to undertake an Enhanced DBS check with or without barred list checks.
• Position is a fixed term role within an 8 class community school.
