Job Description

Leisure Attendant - Larne

Location: Larne
Pay Rate: £13.26 per hour
Hours: 37 hours per week
Duration: Initial 3-month assignment

Successful candidates will be required to work a flexible rota including Monday to Sunday, evenings, weekends and public holidays, in line with the operational needs of the service.

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for a Leisure Attendant to support the safe and effective operation of a busy leisure facility in Larne. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring customer safety, delivering excellent customer service, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, and supporting the day-to-day running of the centre.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide an efficient and effective lifeguarding service in accordance with the centre's Normal Operating Procedures (NOP) and Emergency Action Plan (EAP).
  • Supervise customers across all areas of the centre, including poolside, changing facilities, fitness suites, health suites and outdoor areas.
  • Respond to emergency situations and evacuations, ensuring the safety of customers and staff at all times.
  • Participate in staff training and ongoing development activities.
  • Set up, dismantle and safely store equipment for activities, events and functions.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the facility and surrounding grounds.
  • Complete relevant documentation including safety checks, cleaning schedules, accident and incident reports.
  • Monitor access to facilities, collect user tickets and ensure customers meet centre admission requirements.
  • Deliver a high standard of customer care and assist with resolving customer queries and complaints.
  • Report faults and carry out minor maintenance tasks where appropriate.
  • Assist with lessons, coaching sessions and training programmes as required.
  • Support the induction and development of new staff and work placement students.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures.
  • Provide cover at other council leisure facilities when required.
  • Support customers with additional accessibility needs.
  • Comply fully with safeguarding and child protection policies.

Essential Criteria

  • Possession of a current lifesaving qualification, minimum National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ), RLSS Bronze Medallion, or equivalent.
  • Ability to successfully pass a swim competency assessment.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly as part of a team.
