Job role:Legal Secretary

Location:Colchester, Essex

Starting salary:£26,500+ negotiable depending on experience

Hours:Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm

Top Job Recruitment are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established and respected law firm based in Colchester. Due to continued growth, our client is looking to welcome a professional and organised Legal Secretary to join their friendly and supportive team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous legal secretarial or strong administrative experience who enjoys working in a fast paced environment and takes pride in providing high-quality support.

The Role

You will provide secretarial and administrative support to Fee Earners across a range of legal disciplines, including:

  • Residential Conveyancing
  • Commercial Conveyancing
  • Private Client
  • Litigation
  • Family Law

This is a varied role where no two days are the same, making it ideal for someone who is highly organised, proactive and enjoys working as part of a busy team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing secretarial and administrative support to Fee Earners.
  • Audio and copy typing of legal documents and correspondence.
  • Preparing legal documents, forms and client correspondence.
  • Managing diaries, appointments and meeting arrangements.
  • Opening, maintaining and closing client files.
  • Handling incoming calls and dealing with client enquiries professionally.
  • Liaising with clients, solicitors and third parties.
  • Filing, scanning and document management.
  • Ensuring all work is completed accurately and confidentially in line with GDPR and firm procedures.
  • Supporting the team to ensure work is completed efficiently and to a high standard.
About You

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Previous Legal Secretary experience or strong administration experience within a professional office environment.
  • Excellent typing and IT skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • The ability to prioritise workloads and work to deadlines.
  • A professional, reliable and proactive approach.
  • Experience within one or more of the above legal departments would be advantageous but is not essential.
