Job Description
Legal Secretary - Real Estate (Leeds) Location: LeedsDepartment: Real EstateReporting to: Partner About the Role An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Legal Secretary to join a busy Real Estate team in Leeds. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to lawyers, ensuring an efficient and organised service is delivered to both internal teams and clients. This role requires someone who can work both independently and collaboratively, manage multiple priorities, and maintain high standards of accuracy and client care. Key Responsibilities
  • Audio and copy typing using Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Preparing and formatting correspondence, legal documents, leases, agreements and presentations
  • Document management using an electronic document management system
  • Applying for property searches via online services including HM Land Registry
  • Completing Stamp Duty Land Tax forms via HMRC
  • Producing billing information and financial reports, and supporting credit control processes
  • Diary management and file management support for fee earners
  • Handling client enquiries professionally (non-legal advice)
  • Managing incoming correspondence and ensuring urgent matters are escalated
  • Supporting other secretaries and departments when required
  • General administrative duties including photocopying, post and archiving
  • Handling Land Registry applications and post-completion formalities, including file closure
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
  • Previous Legal Secretarial experience, ideally within a Real Estate/Property team
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Experience with digital dictation and document management systems
  • Fast and accurate typing skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills with a professional and empathetic approach
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
