Legal Project Manager

£65K - £75K

Manchester (hybrid)

Role Overview:

We are recruiting a Senior Project Manager (Legal) to lead a high-profile and complex portfolio of litigation and liability matters. This role sits at the intersection of legal delivery, commercial strategy and client engagement, requiring strong judgement, influence and the confidence to operate with senior stakeholders.

You will work closely with partners, senior fee earners and clients, providing structure and oversight across a diverse range of matters - from high-value, multi-jurisdictional disputes to fast-moving advisory and regulatory projects. The role offers significant variety, visibility and the opportunity to shape how legal work is delivered across the practice.

As a trusted adviser to partners, you will embed project management discipline, enhance commercial outcomes and drive continuous improvement in how matters are scoped, priced and delivered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end management of complex legal projects and portfolios, from initiation through to delivery and post-matter review
  • Act as a senior point of contact for partners and key clients, supporting effective governance, decision-making and communication
  • Define and challenge project scope, milestones, budgets and resourcing models to ensure commercial and operational success
  • Produce high-quality internal and client-facing reporting, translating complex information into clear insights for senior stakeholders
  • Proactively identify risks, dependencies and issues across matters, implementing mitigation strategies and escalating where appropriate
  • Partner with legal leadership to support pricing strategy, resource optimisation and matter profitability
  • Drive improvements in processes, templates and ways of working, promoting best practice in legal project management
  • Champion the effective use of legal technology and data to enhance delivery, transparency and client experience

What we're looking for:

  • Proven experience delivering legal or professional services projects, ideally within litigation, disputes or liability-focused practices
  • Deep understanding of legal matter life cycles and the commercial drivers of legal work
  • Demonstrable ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders, including partners and clients, with confidence and credibility
  • Strong communication skills, with experience presenting to and advising at a senior level
  • Highly organised, analytical and commercially astute, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Project management qualification (eg PRINCE2, PMP, Agile, or Legal Project Management certification) preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of project management tools and Microsoft Office

Why Consider This Role?

  • Opportunity to work on a wide-ranging, intellectually engaging portfolio of high-value and strategically important matters
  • High level of visibility and autonomy, working directly with senior partners and clients
  • Hybrid and flexible working arrangements
  • Strong commitment to professional development within a collaborative and inclusive culture
