Job Description

We are looking to recruit an full time Litigation Legal Assistant to be based at our Bedford office .


To be successful you will have a strong secretarial and administration background. In addition, you will be a well organised self-starter who is able to work independently to ensure that tasks are completed to a high standard. Confidence in dealing with clients in a professional manner, both on the telephone and in person, is essential.


Key tasks include but not limited to:

  • Dealing with all new enquiries and responding appropriately (ie sending out questionnaires, etc.)

  • Dealing with queries raised by clients, solicitors and other involved parties

  • Making detailed attendance notes of all interactions

  • Opening/closing files, keeping files updated with correspondence (electronic and hard copy) and ensuring compliance with SRA regulations/firm style

  • Administrative support (including photocopying and scanning etc)

  • Drafting basic letters and preparing/submitting basic legal documents

  • Completing legal forms, registering legal documents and submitting applications to the Court

  • Maintaining contact lists and calendars for fee earners

  • Undertaking research

  • Sorting, paginating and indexing medical notes, preparing chronologies

  • Preparing bundles/e bundles for Court

  • Sitting behind advocates in court

  • Costing files

  • Preparing and submitting bills to the finance team for fee earners

  • Reception cover

  • Preparing and taking the banking and post (cover).

  • Hours - Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:15with a one hour lunch break (Office Based)
