Job Description

The Legal Assistant will provide support to Fee Earners within the Family Department, contributing to the delivery of an excellent client service across the firm.

The successful candidate will assist in the efficient operation and continued development of the department, ensuring compliance with all legal, regulatory, and professional standards, whilst supporting the firm's wider business objectives and internal procedures.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
  • Provide high-quality legal and administrative support to Fee Earners within the Family Department, enabling them to maximise efficiency and client service delivery.
  • Make effective use of the firm's case management system and delegate tasks appropriately to ensure the efficient use of time and resources.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring administrative processes to improve the efficiency and quality of service delivery.
  • Act as a first point of contact for clients and enquiries, providing professional and timely information and support.
  • Collate, input, and maintain accurate information on databases and spreadsheets as required, producing documentation, statistical information, and management reports where necessary.
  • Support promotional and marketing initiatives by organising events and utilising a range of digital and traditional resources to maximise exposure of the department's services and expertise.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant administrative support technology and systems.
  • Undertake Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in line with the requirements of the firm.
  • Operate at all times in accordance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Code of Conduct and Principles.
  • Adhere to all firm policies and procedures, with particular regard to customer service standards, confidentiality, health and safety, equality, and diversity.
Person Specification Essential
  • Experience working to deadlines and targets within a professional environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, together with accurate data inputting and record management skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, clients, and third parties.
  • Professional and adaptable approach when responding to enquiries and changing circumstances.
  • Ability to remain calm and organised under pressure whilst managing competing priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional and client-focused manner.
  • Awareness and understanding of differing individual needs and the ability to adapt communication styles accordingly.
  • Commercial awareness and a proactive, professional attitude.
Desirable
  • Previous experience within a professional services or legal environment.
  • Customer or client service experience.
  • Previous exposure to family law or legal support work.

In time and depending on the progress of the candidate it is likely that you will be able to progress into a paralegal role however this is not guaranteed.
