Job Description

The University of Law and the University of Leicester are launching an exciting new strategic partnership, bringing industry leading postgraduate legal training directly onto Leicester's campus from September 2026.

This collaboration will introduce ULaw's LLM Legal Practice (SQE1&2) and PGDL programmes in a full time, in person format creating a seamless pathway from academic study to professional qualification. Students will benefit from ULaw's renowned expertise in legal training, strong employer connections, and focus on real world employability, all within the vibrant University of Leicester community.

This role operates on a 5 over 7 day working pattern to support our flexible delivery model. This means you will be required to work evenings and/or weekends. Your specific working pattern will be set on a termly basis, ensuring you have designated time off during the week.

The role will also include teaching on our vocational programmes to our online students and there may also be additional opportunities to teach at our other campuses.

Following completion of your probation, unless already obtained, we will enrol you on our PGCHE (Postgraduate Certificate of Higher Education) and support you to obtain this qualification and FHEA (Fellow of the Higher Education Academy). In addition, suitable candidates can help shape and strengthen our research culture, with research time release to pursue scholarship and publish work on issues of importance to both the legal community and academia.

As our Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer, you will:

  • Deliver high quality teaching and support for learning, including communication with other academics for the continuous improvement of teaching and student support
  • Identify the need for developing the content, structure, assessment within modules with colleagues and make proposals on how this should be achieved
  • Contribute to effective design and review of inclusive learning. Maintain quality standards and regulations in curricular design
  • Routinely communicate complex and conceptual ideas to those with limited knowledge and understanding as well as to peers using high level skills
  • Act as a module tutor, academic coach and sign post students on pastoral aspects during their learning journey

  • Sufficient breadth and depth of professional experience in the relevant discipline to develop teaching programmes and learning support

Requirements for Lecturer positions:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent in a relevant subject
  • Fellowship of Advance HE (HEA) or equivalent or willingness to work towards
  • Relevant teaching qualification or willingness to work towards PGCHE

Please note that if you do not currently hold this, it is a requirement of the University that you will enrol into the programme (delivered and financially supported by the University), usually within 12 months of passing probation. Successful completion/qualification is essential to this role.

Requirements for Senior Lecturer positions:

  • Postgraduate qualification or equivalent in a relevant subject
  • Fellowship of Advance HE (HEA)
  • Relevant teaching qualification

Senior Lecturers will have developed significant expertise in the application and practical delivery of a range of teaching techniques, pastoral care, mentoring colleagues, assessment design, marking and team leadership.
