DescriptionSandwell College is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in GCSE English Language on a fixed term basis for the academic year. The postholder will be responsible for delivering GCSE English programmes to resit learners 16-18-year-olds, supporting learner progress and achievement, and contributing to curriculum development and quality improvement activities. The role requires a consistent focus on high standards of teaching, learning, and assessment, alongside effective learner support within a further education setting.
Interviews will be held W/C 17th August 2026.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure students have a rewarding and challenging learning experience that supports them in reaching their full potential and achieving strong academic outcomes
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of teaching and learning quality, promoting positive student outcomes and an engaging College experience
- Deliver allocated programmes as directed by the line manager
- Participate in curriculum planning and development
- Maintain accurate academic and administrative records
- Carry out administrative responsibilities in line with College policies
- Take responsibility for course leadership, including course tutorship and personal tutoring
- Work collaboratively within course teams to ensure high-quality delivery
- Be flexible to work at other campuses
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:
- A degree or equivalent qualification in English
- A Certificate in Education or Level 5 Teaching Qualification (or willingness to work towards one)
- Experience delivering and assessing GCSE English Language
- A strong commitment to student success and continuous professional development
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
To be eligible for our Qualified Lecturer salary banding (£31,837 - £48,160), you must hold one of the following teaching qualifications:
- DTTLS (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
- Certificate in Education
- PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)
- ProfGCE (Professional Graduate Certificate in Education)
- DET (Diploma in Education and Training)
- DiT (Diploma in Teaching) - if for a vocational subject
If you do not hold one of the above qualifications, you will fall into our Unqualified Lecturer salary banding (£26,661 - £29,998).

- CTLLS (Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
