About the Role

South & City College Birmingham is seeking a dedicated Lecturer in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning to support the college's mission of providing high-quality education and training tailored to local needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver both theoretical and practical teaching on Refrigeration and Air Conditioning courses up to Level 3.
• Plan, manage, and review learning programs, including curriculum development.
• Track student progress, maintain accurate records, and provide additional support where necessary.
• Act as a course leader, offering academic guidance and ensuring students meet vocational and educational needs.
• Conduct assessments, provide timely feedback, and support students' development of study skills and exam techniques.
• Monitor attendance, punctuality, and behavior, addressing concerns and setting improvement targets.
• Liaise with parents, guardians, schools, and external organizations regarding student progress and achievements.
• Ensure compliance with internal and external quality standards, including Internal and External Verification.
• Contribute to enrichment programs, work placements, and educational visits to enhance student learning.
• Provide pastoral care and student support in collaboration with Student Services.
• Participate in lesson observations, peer evaluations, and quality assurance processes to improve teaching effectiveness.
• Stay updated with industry advancements, including emerging technologies and T-levels, ensuring they are integrated into the curriculum.

Additional Responsibilities

• Support student recruitment, enrollment, open days, and promotional events.
• Act as a personal tutor, completing Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and monitoring student progress.
• Comply with college policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations.
• Uphold safeguarding and student welfare policies.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection regulations.
• Engage in professional development and continuous training to enhance teaching methodologies.
• Provide mentorship to new staff members when required.
