Lead Veterinary Surgeon - Wiltshire

  • Step into a hands on leadership role at a well-established Wiltshire practice, guiding a friendly team, shaping clinical standards, and championing high quality patient care.
  • Work in a modern, fully equipped clinic with digital X-ray, ultrasound, dental facilities, and an in-house laboratory, backed by a supportive regional network.
  • Develop and mentor colleagues, oversee case continuity, and contribute to audits, protocols, and quality improvement across the practice and region.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Veterinary Surgeon to join a welcoming, well-established practice in Wiltshire, with an exciting refurbishment on the horizon. This is the perfect time to step into a leadership role and help shape the future of a practice that already enjoys a loyal client base, varied caseload, and strong community reputation.

This forward thinking practice is equipped with all the modern tools expected in a progressive GP setting, including digital X-ray, ultrasound, dental facilities, and an in-house laboratory. Backed by a wider regional network, you'll benefit from both clinical support and shared expertise, while still enjoying the autonomy to develop services, introduce new ideas, and champion the highest standards of patient care.

As Lead Veterinary Surgeon, you will take the reins of the clinical team, setting the tone for excellence in both medicine and surgery. This is a hands on leadership role where you will guide, mentor, and develop colleagues, including RVNs and student nurses, while fostering a positive, collaborative culture. You'll work closely with the Head Nurse to oversee case continuity, manage workflows, and ensure the smooth day to day running of the practice.

The role also offers the opportunity to build strong, lasting relationships with clients, delivering clear communication and confident, evidence based decisions that put patient welfare first. You'll play a key part in driving clinical governance, contributing to audits, protocols, and continuous quality improvement both within the practice and across the wider network.

The ideal candidate will be an RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon with solid small animal experience and a passion for leadership. Confidence in routine surgery and medicine is essential, along with the ability to manage more complex cases with support when needed. A certificate holder or someone working towards one will thrive here, with full support provided to help you achieve your goals.

This is more than just a leadership role, it's an opportunity to make a lasting impact, shape a team, and grow a practice. With potential for partnership in the future, it offers an exciting pathway for a forward thinking vet ready to take the next step in their career and build something truly special!
