Lead Veterinary Nurse - Cromwell Vets

Salary: Starting at £32,000 dependent on experience.

Rota: 40 hours per week, worked across 4 or 5 days. One in four weekend days, with a day off in lieu.

About the Practice

Cromwell Vets is a well established practice known for delivering high standards of clinical care alongside a compassionate approach to patients and clients. With six sites across the Huntingdon area, you will gain exposure to a varied caseload and work alongside experienced veterinary surgeons.

The Role

This is a predominantly clinical position with protected time to lead on nursing clinics and quality initiatives.

  • Managing medical and surgical patients
  • Supporting anaesthesia and Schedule III procedures
  • Nurse consultations and client communication
  • Supporting patients throughout their full clinical journey

You will work within a team where nurses are respected and actively involved in clinical decision making.

Nursing Clinics

You will take the lead in developing and coordinating nurse led clinics across all sites.

  • Weight management clinics
  • Dental health clinics
  • Senior pet clinics
  • Post operative and wound care clinics
  • Puppy and kitten clinics
  • Chronic disease monitoring clinics

You will ensure clinics are delivered consistently, monitor outcomes, and identify areas for improvement and growth.

Quality
  • Supporting the RCVS Practice Standards Scheme (PSS) initiatives
  • Managing and reviewing significant event reporting
  • Developing and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Supporting Dog Friendly and Cat Friendly clinic accreditations

This part of the role requires attention to detail, organisation, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.

Leadership
  • Line management responsibilities
  • Training and mentoring team members
  • Conducting performance reviews
  • Coordinating SOP implementation across the team
About You
  • Qualified RVN with at least two years post qualification experience
  • Strong interest in nurse led clinics and patient care
  • Interest in clinical governance and quality improvement
  • Organised and able to manage multiple responsibilities
  • Confident communicator with a collaborative approach
  • Flexible and willing to support across multiple sites
