Lead Technical Architect (Solutions) - DWP - G6

This role may be located in one of the following locations: Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle or Sheffield.

The roles involve designing, overseeing, and governing architecture for IT solutions that support DWP customers.

A Lead Technical Architect (Solutions) leads at the highest level, ensuring strategy alignment and adherence.

At this level, you will:

  • Network and communicate with senior stakeholders across organizations.
  • Proactively seek opportunities for digital transformation.
  • Support multiple teams, utilizing best practices and emerging technologies.
  • Inspire and guide other architects to achieve organizational goals.
  • Be responsible for governance, resolving complex and high-risk issues, and delivering architecture designs.
Person specification

When detailing your employment history and personal statement, highlight your experience aligned with the essential criteria below:

  • Architecture design across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments, involving networking, security, presentation, middleware, database, and integration.
  • Design informed by principles, patterns, technical radars, practices, and standards.
  • Design experience working with project delivery teams within agile, waterfall, and hybrid environments throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions with traceability for stakeholder review.
  • Use of architecture modeling techniques and tools to develop and represent designs.
  • Experience with microservice and API-led architecture and integration best practices.
  • Design experience with event-based architecture, patterns (including pub-sub and data streaming), modeling techniques, tools, and standards.
