Job Description

As the most senior hands on engineer, you will own the technical direction of the UK's leading property data platform. Reporting to the CTO, you will lead a high performing squad to scale a system that processes terabytes of data. This backend leaning role balances daily coding in Node.js and PostgreSQL with strategic architectural leadership.

What you will do
  • Provide architectural oversight across the full stack, specifically evolving complex Elasticsearch driven architectures and heavy PostgreSQL data pipelines.
  • Lead multidisciplinary squads and complex technical design discussions, balancing speed, scope, and scale for new feature delivery.
  • Mentor senior and mid level engineers through coaching and design reviews while contributing high quality code to the React and Node.js codebase daily.
The ideal candidate
  • 7+ years of software engineering experience with at least 2-3 years in a Lead, Staff, or Senior plus leadership capacity.
  • Deep technical expertise in the modern JavaScript ecosystem, specifically Node.js, Express, tRPC, React, and advanced PostgreSQL query optimisation.
  • Proven track record of scaling data intensive SaaS platforms and leading engineering initiatives within a high growth startup or scale up environment.
