Lead Product Engineer
Southampton, Hampshire
£50k + Bonus + Excellent Benefits

Great opportunity for an Engineer with responsibility for allocating and monitoring progress of tasks for technical members of the project team, in order to develop products in accordance with NPD process.

The role requires close collaboration with the Project Manager and project team members to ensure adherence to the agreed Phase Gate and Product Development processes to ensure that Customer Requirements are defined and addressed and timeframes for project deliverables align with those agreed with the customer.

Experience Required:


• Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject.
• Ideally, Chartered Engineer through membership of a recognised institution or equivalent industry experience.
• Understanding of legal and regulatory compliance (e.g. CE marking) would be a distinct advantage.
• Experience of New Product Development and Introduction (NPD) cycle and Phase Gated Process.
• General understanding of Project Management.
• Experience of operating as a technical lead with direct engineering responsibility.
• Technical ability in engineering product development.
• Hands on experience of electrical and electronic systems including motors, drives and power electronics and associated sensors, actuators and instrumentation.
• Mechanical rigging and test cell and rig running experience desirable.
• Turbomachinery knowledge desirable, but not essential.
• Experienced in balancing engineering risks and business priorities.
• Strong analytical ability, clear thinker and strong problem-solving ability.
• Good understanding of different production methods, models, metrics etc.
• Understanding of Engineering systems, process, best practice.
