Location Description

Michael Foods, Inc. located in Wakefield, Nebraska is known as the Baseball Capital of Nebraska. Milton G. Waldbaum and Dan Gardner founded our egg-processing business in 1950 here in Wakefield. Our location raises chickens and produces tankers of liquid egg to be consumed by our processing facilities.

Responsibilities

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provides a safe work environment for all personnel.
  2. Involved in SRMP (Safety & Risk Management Process)
  3. Completion of all safety audits, scans & inspections.
  4. Responsible for the general safety of your employees.
  5. Assists in training of all processing and production personnel in assigned department. Assists supervisor in updating training for existing personnel whenever equipment changes are instituted, or news procedures are implemented.
  6. Assists with Noah feed, light, ventilation program.
  7. Communicate with Breaking personal and Farm maintenance at all times
  8. Helps in providing for a safe work environment for all personnel. Also helps ensure that all production complies with food safety standards as established by Michael Foods, Inc.
  9. Works with supervisor to help maintain sanitation standards of facility.
  10. Assigns work tasks to department personnel.
  11. Assist with UEP monthly requirements and audits
  12. Assist with mortality audits
  13. Assist with safety audits
  14. Assist with REF (Responsible Egg Flow System) problems and complete REF report
  15. Helps maintain control records related to processing, including but not limited to production records, safety inspections and 7-day UEP (United Egg Producers) records
  16. Maintains effective working relationship between members of department and other areas.
  17. Continually monitors lines for quality product and notifies all appropriate personnel if discrepancy is found.
  18. To follow all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements and safety procedures
  19. To follow all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) "washing hands, etc." throughout the day.
  20. Follow all Bio Security programs
  21. Monitors production equipment on a continual basis to maintain proper production standards.
  22. Reports and fills out work orders on maintenance issues as they relate to productivity, food safety, quality and human safety to maintenance.
  23. Encourage suggestions from employees which will improve productivity, quality or control cost of production.
  24. Maintains accurate downtime records and Daily shift report of all equipment in assigned area.
  25. Follow all UEP (United Egg Producers)/ Animal Welfare Program Guide lines.
  26. Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP's, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
  27. Travel to and work at multiple locations as needed
  28. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

One-year certificate from college or technical school or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.

EXPERIENCE

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors or employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:

Licenses, certificates, and registrations required:

  • Driver's license

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Ability to consistently follow safety and quality rules and procedures
  2. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  3. Must have good communication skills.
  4. Self-motivated and a willingness to learn.
  5. Must have proper math skills.
  6. Must be able to train new employees.
  7. Ability to safely lift 30-50 lbs at the farms
  8. Must be able to work overtime and weekends (once at month). Also, willing to work an alternate shift.
  9. Excessive walks, standing on hard surfaces
  10. Must have basic computer skills (excel, word, etc)
  11. Ability to analyze problems and find solutions
  12. Ability to speak, write and understand English.
  13. Ability to assist utility house person with mechanical or electrical issues
  14. Ability to obtain training in First Aid/CPR, Hot Works, Confined Space, Respiratory and Lock Out Tag Out.
