Job responsibilitiesThe Lead Nurse will ensure the provision and delivery of a high standard of care to children with congenital heart disease, providing professional and clinical leadership to multi-professionals. The postholder will work alongside the matron team and the DDN to ensure quality of services across the trust, ensuring patients and their families have equitable access to services.
The Paediatric Congenital Heart Disease Lead Nurse at Southampton General Hospital is responsible for ensuring the delivery of seamless high-quality care, in line with national standards from fetal life to adulthood across the region. The Level 1 centre at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) delivers high quality care, education and research across the region in partnership with the Level 2 service based at Oxford University Hospital Foundation NHS Trust (OUH) and numerous Level 3 centres across the Thames Valley and Wessex region. The Lead Nurse for Congenital Heart Disease will be an integral team member for CHD within the Children's Hospital and the Wessex and Thames Valley Region. The post holder will lead on development and compliance with CHD standards, working with the Congenital Heart Disease team within UHS and the Network.
Person Specification Qualifications, knowledge and experience- Registered nurse (RN or RN Child or duel trained)
- Master's Degree in a health-related discipline (or demonstrable evidence of working at Masters Level)
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Consolidated post-registration experience in Congenital Heart Disease
- Leadership and management of a clinical team
- Experience of leading complex projects to redesign and improve clinical services
- In-depth specialist knowledge of Congenital Heart Disease
- Evidence of management development and leadership development
- Teaching qualification
- Experience of working in a strategic role as a senior nurse leader
