The purpose of the role is to provide efficient and effective professional leadership to the Enhanced Maternal Care (EMC) service within Birmingham Women's Hospital and oversight of the provision of midwifery outreach to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, University Hospitals Birmingham (QEUHB).
There will be strong leadership in the EMC service to ensure the highest possible care standards, and to ensure the monitoring and reporting of care, with family and staff feedback. There will be excellent team working with the multidisciplinary team, the other areas of Maternity, Neonatal Unit and the wider Division of Women, the Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS) and Integrated Care System (ICS). Main duties of the jobThis role will require flexibility to support staff and the service which may include unsocial hours.
Birmingham Women's Hospital is one of two dedicated women's hospitals in the UK, with the busiest single site maternity unit, delivering more than 8,200 babies a year offering a full range of gynaecological, maternity and neonatal care.
The post is an integral part of the maternity service, working primarily with clinicians, operational leads and stakeholders to support and oversee delivery of the EMC processes and governance to support an effective patient care pathway.
The post-holder will make informed decisions within their area of responsibility, work to set deadlines, dealing with a complex and varied workload while ensuring agreed standards and targets are met.
The post holder will work directly with members of the senior management team to provide effective and innovative support to the EMC maternity service including providing knowledge, data input and analysis concerning service improvement and effective utilisation of resources.

Person Specification Qualifications- Registered Midwife - BSc or Diploma or Degree in Midwifery
- Current professional registration
- Evidence of QI project
- Evidence of Management/Leadership course/module completion
- Previous experience in managing complex cases
- Five years clinical experience as a Midwife
- Experience at report writing and presenting at high level
- Current experience in midwifery care and knowledge of current issues and edicts
- Work with multi disciplinary team to determine the best care for women taking into account their personal preferences and needs
- Ability to present complex information in an educational/training setting to a high standard
- Evidence of applying research to practice
- Ability to negotiate and influence decision making
- Able to manage conflict
- Able to prioritise workload and delegate
- Proficient in use of data recording and analysis (Excel)
- Knowledge of clinical governance
- Up to date knowledge of current clinical and professional issues
- Knowledge of legislation, directives and reports relating to EMC
- Up to date knowledge of Local Maternity and neonatal Systems and their aims
- Patient, kind and able to uphold the trust values.
