Job Description
Lead Mechanical Engineer (Milan)

We are currently recruiting for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to work for a Tier 1 M&E Contractor on a large Data Centre Project in Milan, Italy. They will be responsible for planning, managing and coordinating all mechanical engineering and commissioning activities on assigned projects.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage mechanical engineering, design management, and commissioning activities
  • Ensure compliance with EHS, quality, and company engineering procedures
  • Coordinate procurement support including technical reviews, RFQs, and subcontract scopes
  • Oversee system design reviews, equipment selection, technical submittals, and BIM coordination
  • Manage testing, commissioning, FATs, SATs, and system walkdowns
  • Track system completion, snags, documentation, and O&M deliverables
  • Identify and support value engineering and cost saving initiatives
  • Provide technical input to project planning, risk management, and commercial discussions
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and support continuous professional development
Requirements
  • Third-level qualification in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering
  • 10+ years' relevant experience, including 3+ years in a lead or managerial role
  • Experience in data centre and/or pharmaceutical projects preferred
  • Strong technical leadership and problem solving capability
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and reporting skills
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and project priorities
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on quality, safety, and delivery
