We're seeking a Lead Java Software Engineer to join our Fixed Income Technology team who can be hands on coding in Java and help coordinate various e-trading technology initiatives in emerging market rates space. This individual will be responsible for executing a portfolio of projects and maintenance work that are both strategic and tactical, aiming to increase efficiency and effectiveness of their related support functions.

This is a Lead Java Software Engineering position at VP level, which is part of the job family responsible for developing and maintaining software solutions that support business needs.

What you'll do in the role:
- Provide technical leadership and vision for software development projects.
- Define technical architecture and roadmap for large-scale, mission-critical systems.
- Establish and communicate departmental goals and objectives aligned with business priorities.
- Lead a team of software engineers, providing coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations.
- Manage resource allocation, project timelines, and budget for software development initiatives.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the team.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to ensure project success.
- Oversee the execution of software development projects, ensuring quality and on-time delivery.
- Drive the recruitment and retention of top technical talent for the team.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to shape technology strategy and roadmap.
- Represent the software engineering team in cross-functional discussions and planning sessions.
- The ideal candidate must be able to develop and govern the central book of work for emerging market rates technology that includes detailed requirements/specifications, and delivery plan, which must be updated regularly with stakeholders across various trading desks.
- Establish effective relationships with Strats partners, and Ops/support functions to facilitate prioritization and implementation of deliverables.
- Identify and measure their success criteria via quantifiable metrics such as cost, benefit/opportunity, time-to-market and usage. In addition to these, the candidate must be able to code in Java possibly in reactive programming space as the candidate will require to participate in design & architectural discussion with global counter party team.
What you'll bring to the role:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Proven track record of leading high-performance engineering teams.
- Strategic planning and execution of engineering projects.
- Ability to align technology initiatives with business objectives.
- Strong people management skills and fostering a collaborative team culture.
- Experience in budgeting, resource allocation, and project governance.
- Collaboration with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
- Minimum 5 years related industry experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in coding Java
- Experience coding reactive programming a plus.
- Experience running a large-scale project as well as coordinating multiple smaller projects simultaneously.
- Experience understanding of fixed income rates products.
- Thorough understanding front to back B2C etrading workflow in general a plus.
