TITLE: Lead Custodian, 1st Shift (6am - 2:30pm) - District

JOB STATUS: FLSA Overtime Eligible

REPORTS TO: Building Administrator or Coordinator, Custodial Services

DEPARTMENT: Business Operations

Position Summary

To assist the High School Head Custodian by supervising the custodial staff during the evening hours.

Job Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or equivalent training and experience.
  • Knowledge in general repair, painting, cleaning, and operation of cleaning equipment.
  • Working knowledge of heating, air conditioning, and ventilating systems.
  • Ability to communicate in a courteous manner.
  • Neat appearance.
  • Competence in supervising others.
  • Other qualifications acceptable to the Board of Education.
Essential Duties
  • Cleans an assigned area.
  • Complies with all Federal, state, and local laws and regulations for the storage, use, and disposal of trash, rubbish, waste, and hazardous material (OSHA).
  • At the direction of the Head Custodian, oversees custodians on his/her shift in the preparation and clean up of extra events at the high school.
  • Complies with all Federal, state, and local laws and regulations for the maintenance, repair, and operation of equipment and machines (OSHA).
  • Handles emergency situations that might occur. When necessary, contacts Head Custodian or Director of Building, Grounds and Maintenance.
  • Assists the Head Custodian in the evaluation of the custodial staff.
  • Ensures the safety of students.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative professional relationships.
  • Remains free of any alcohol or nonprescription controlled substances and abuse of any prescribed controlled substance throughout employment in the district.
  • Exhibits professional behavior, emotional stability, and sound judgment.
  • Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.
  • Understands the legal responsibility to help instill in students the belief in, and practice of, ethical principles and democratic values.
  • Maintains confidentiality and respect for confidential information at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
Terms of Employment

261 days (251 work days and 10 paid holidays); 8 hours per day, excluding lunch. Number of days of vacation, holidays and salary as determined by negotiated agreement. Work year to be established by the Board.

Salary

$22.26/HR - $26.39/HR.
