Lead Application Operations Engineer

We're looking for an exceptional Lead Application Operations Engineer to help us make a difference to our planet.
This is a full time (37 hrs per week) role based in the National Capability Technology's Operational Suite team. Hybrid working is an option, and we also consider applicants who want to work a minimum of 30 hrs per week or who intend to work a jobshare.
Working ConditionsAs part of the 24/7/365 Operational Suite services you may be required to participate in an on call roster.
We work in a dynamic, life changing environment where operational excellence supports weather forecasting, climate prediction and critical decision making for individuals, industry and government.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and develop the team, providing line management and fostering a culture of knowledge sharing, coaching and mentorship.
- Plan, direct and prioritise team activities to support operational service delivery.
- Ensure services meet or exceed SLA/OLA requirements in a cost effective manner.
- Drive continuous improvement of service delivery, working with stakeholders to deliver better outcomes.
- Manage high impact, complex changes, lead incident investigations and resolution, and implement preventive measures.
Salary up to £65,569 per annum, in addition to the following:
- Outstanding Civil Service pension (average employer contribution 28. bonne%)
- Recruitment Retention Allowance (RRA) - £5,300 per annum (management period: Apr 2024 - Mar 2026)
- Annual leave: 27.5 days (plus bank holidays) rising to 32.5 days after five years; option to buy or sell up to _INFO days per year.

- Demonstrable track record of managing operational systems in support and development environments.
- Understanding of ITIL or equivalent processes to ensure excellent service delivery.
- Ability to work independently under broad direction, set milestones and delegate assignments.
- Experience in leadership, planning and organising cross 등이.
- Proven communication skills at both technical and business levels with other departments, teams, customers and suppliers.
- Strong analytical capability to guide and mentor the team through complex technical challenges.
