Posted 2 hours 26 minutes ago by Alexander Mann Solutions - Public Sector Resourcing
On behalf of The Ministry of Justice, we are looking for a Lead Analytics Engineer (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract based hybrid in any MOJ office twice per month.
The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) priorities include improving public safety and reducing reoffending by reforming prisons, probation and youth justice, and building a justice system which makes access to justice swifter and more certain for all citizens whatever their background. Project professionals in the MoJ help to improve the government's ability to protect the public and reduce reoffending, and to provide a more effective, transparent and responsive criminal justice system for victims and the public.
Analytics engineers in MoJ's Data and Analytics Engineering community build and maintain dimensional models on our Analytical Platform (AP) to support reporting, analysis and data science.
We are aiming to build additions to an MVP reporting solution built for CICA (the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority). In the immediate term this means working with data from CICA's task management system. A snapshot of this data is extracted daily to MoJ's Analytical Platform and to enable reporting this needs to be modelled, using a dimensional modelling framework. QuickSight dashboards will then be produced for reporting, demand and workplace management and to inform business improvement. The data model will also enable sophisticated analysis to improve operations of CICA, for example to understand the case backlog and forecast future demand or to automate time-consuming elements of the CICA case management and decision-making process.
We are looking for an experienced, collaborative, Lead Analytics Engineer with exceptional dimensional modelling skills, strong leadership skills, experience working closely with stakeholders, and a proven track record of developing other engineers to join the team and lead development of the above model.
Essential:
. Excellent SQL and jinja skills
. Excellent knowledge of dimensional modelling and Kimball methodology
. Experience of using dbt, including implementing dbt best practices
. Experience of leading, enabling and supporting a team of analytics engineers, guiding them to apply best practices
. Experience of working with data users to develop understanding of data and its relation to business processes
. Experience of ensuring practices are up to date with latest developments in analytics engineering
. Experience of reviewing, designing and developing conceptual, logical and physical data models
. Experience of ensuring that data documentation is aligned with user requirements
. Experience of engaging and maintaining relationships with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams
Desirable:
. Experience of programming in Python
. Experience with cloud platforms, ideally AWS
. Experience of building dashboards or data applications
. Experience of building CI/CD workflows, ideally with GitHub Actions
