Ratheane Care Home, based in Coleraine, is currently recruiting for a Laundry Assistant.

The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring residents have clean, fresh and well-presented clothing and linen. Working as part of the housekeeping team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the laundry, ensuring items are washed, dried, folded and returned to the appropriate areas.

Hours: 16 hours per week

Shift Pattern: 9:30am-2:00pm or 5:00pm-8:00pm

About The Role

Key Responsibilities:

• Sort, wash, dry, fold and distribute residents' clothing and household linen.
• Ensure residents' personal clothing and belongings are handled with care and returned to the correct resident.
• Operate washing machines, tumble dryers and other laundry equipment safely and appropriately.
• Follow laundry procedures to ensure high standards of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained.
• Use laundry products and chemicals safely, following instructions and COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations.
• Ensure clean laundry is stored appropriately and delivered to the relevant areas of the Care Home.
• Identify and report any damaged, stained or missing items to the appropriate person.
• Maintain a clean, tidy and organised laundry area.
• Follow infection control and health and safety procedures at all times.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the housekeeping and wider Care Home team.
• Treat residents' belongings with respect, dignity and confidentiality.

Ideal Candidate:

• Previous experience in a laundry, housekeeping, cleaning or similar role is preferred but not essential.
• Reliable, punctual and organised.
• Takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
• Good attention to detail and able to follow instructions.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Able to handle residents' personal belongings with care and respect.
• Basic understanding of health and safety and infection control procedures is an advantage.
• Flexible and willing to work the hours required by the Care Home.

• Ability to communicate with the elderly.
• Ability to work set hours and be flexible to meet the needs of the organisation.
• Be in good general medical health (medically fit).
• Demonstrate a good command of written and spoken English.
• Right to work and live in the UK.

Desired Criteria

• Previous experience within housekeeping or a kitchen environment
