Do you come from a hands on landscaping or horticulture background with experience in paving, walling, fencing, hedge maintenance and garden design?
Are you looking for a Monday to Friday role at a leading land based college, combining practical teaching with course leadership while shaping the next generation of horticulture professionals?
This is an opportunity to join a highly respected specialist land based college, known nationally for the quality of its horticulture provision and its strong links with industry. Based at the York campus, this role sits within the Horticulture department and focuses on delivering and managing high quality horticulture and landscaping programmes. You'll lead courses that reflect real world industry practice, develop engaging curriculum content, and support learners to progress into employment or further study.
This role would suit someone from a hard landscaping or professional gardening background, ideally with experience in paving, wall construction, fencing, hedge trimming, planting schemes and garden design - who is now keen to pass on their skills within a supportive education environment. Full teacher training and ongoing development is provided.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching practical and theory horticulture/landscaping sessions
  • Leading and managing agreed horticulture courses
  • Developing industry relevant curriculum and resources
  • Supporting, mentoring and tracking student progress
  • Working closely with the Curriculum Team Leader and department staff
  • Liaising with employers to keep courses aligned with industry needs
  • Full time, permanent position based at the York campus
Qualifications
  • Comes from a landscaping or horticulture background
  • Strong practical experience in hard landscaping (paving, walling, fencing, garden build projects)
  • Knowledge of garden design, planting and maintenance
  • Passionate about developing others and sharing industry skills
  • Open to moving into teaching and course leadership (training provided)
