Qualifications RequiredGCSEs in Maths, English, and a science subject (or equivalent) at grade 4 9 or equivalent.

The RoleAs a Laboratory Technician Apprentice, you will support laboratory operations by assisting with sample preparation, routine testing, data recording, and equipment maintenance. Working alongside experienced laboratory professionals, you will develop strong technical and analytical skills while completing the Level 3 Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship. This role is ideal for someone with a keen interest in science, laboratory testing, or quality focused environments, who is looking to build a long term career in the laboratory sector.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with the receipt, preparation, and processing of laboratory samples
- Carry out routine laboratory testing under supervision
- Accurately record results and maintain laboratory documentation
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality systems
- Adhere to strict health & safety and compliance requirements
- Support the cleaning, maintenance, and calibration of laboratory equipment
- Assist with stock control and laboratory organisation
- Work effectively as part of a laboratory team
- Develop technical knowledge through hands on experience and formal training
- A strong interest in science, laboratory work, or analytical testing
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Willingness to follow procedures and work within regulated environments
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Reliable, professional, and motivated attitude
- Basic IT skills for data entry and record keeping
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Science and Maths
- Interest in quality systems, compliance, or laboratory accreditation
- Previous exposure to a laboratory or scientific setting (not essential)
You will be enrolled onto the Level 3 Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship, which includes:
- Off the job training with an approved training provider
- On the job mentoring and structured development
- Development of technical, scientific, and professional skills
- Support through to End Point Assessment
- A structured entry route into a leading global laboratory organisation
- Hands on experience within a professional testing environment
- A nationally recognised qualification
