Job Description
Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship (Level 3)

Working within a professional laboratory environment, you will:

  • Prepare samples for chemical analysis
  • Assist with laboratory testing procedures
  • Operate analytical equipment under supervision
  • Record and interpret test data
  • Maintain laboratory documentation and records
  • Follow quality assurance procedures
  • Assist with sample receipt and tracking
  • Support equipment calibration and maintenance
  • Learn laboratory best practices and testing standards
  • Maintain a clean and organised laboratory environment
  • Follow strict health, safety, and environmental procedures

As your skills develop, you'll gain exposure to specialist testing techniques used across environmental and industrial sectors.

Entry Requirements:

GCSE Maths, English, and Science (Grade 4/C or above preferred)

No previous laboratory experience required

Training & Development

You will complete a:

Level 3 Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship

Working Week

08.00-17.00

Qualifications Required

GCSEs in Maths, English, and a science subject (or equivalent) at grade 4-9 or equivalent.

Personal Qualities
  • Ability to work unsupervised following a planned work schedule
  • Writing and numeracy skills
  • Familiarity with computers / keyboards / typing skills
  • Word, Excel, Access - statistics, graphs, data analysis
  • General awareness of importance of safety, and in particular safety issues of working in a laboratory.
