About the Role

We are seeking a Laboratory Technician to join a Senior School from April 2026. This full-time position is 5 days a week, 36 weeks per year, 8:00am 5:00pm, with job share considered for the right candidate.

You will work closely with the Science Department, preparing materials for practical lessons, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring Health & Safety compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and set up apparatus, materials, and chemical solutions for lessons and coursework
  • Assist teachers with demonstrations and practical experiments
  • Maintain laboratories, including microscopes, equipment, chemicals, and stock checks
  • Carry out minor repairs or arrange external servicing when required
  • Maintain Health & Safety documentation, risk assessments, and compliance standards
  • Support science clubs, displays, and enrichment activities
  • Ensure a tidy, secure, and organised laboratory environment

Person Specification

  • Science background with experience handling chemicals and laboratory equipment
  • Strong organisational and practical skills
  • Knowledge of laboratory Health & Safety requirements
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Engaged, flexible, and collaborative team player with a professional approach
  • Desirable: A-levels or a degree in a scientific discipline; previous school laboratory experience
