We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented lab technician to support our genetic studies. The successful candidate will be responsible for the genetic characterization of our continuously expanding collection of biosamples from neurodegenerative disease patients and healthy controls and will assist with the development and execution of custom genetic assays aimed at novel gene discovery. Routinely used techniques will include nucleic acid extractions, Sanger sequencing, PCR assay optimization and RT-qPCR. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with a dynamic team of PhD students and postdoctoral researchers, contributing to impactful projects at the forefront of neurogenetics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory experiments, including the handling and processing of biological samples, genetic mutation screening, and a range of molecular biology techniques such as DNA and RNA extraction, RT-qPCR, and sequencing.
  • Assist in the planning, setup and organization of the laboratory, including procurement and maintenance of equipment and consumables.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate lab records, protocols, and data in compliance with established standards and regulations of a biobank environment.
  • Adhere to all laboratory safety guidelines.

Profile

  • At least a professional Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Laboratory technology, Genetics, Molecular biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Neuroscience, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in laboratory techniques relevant to human genetics.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with an ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Attention to detail, willingness to learn, and a proactive approach to problem-solving skills.
