KS2 Teaching Assistant Apprentice

Key Information

Full time, term time - 35 hours per week. Start September 2026.

Base: City of London Freemen's School Ashtead Park, Surrey, KT21 1ET. Duration: 24 months (including End Point Assessment).

Role Overview

We are looking to recruit a Level 3 apprentice to join our thriving Junior School. Working closely with class teachers, you will help pupils to expand their knowledge and play a positive role in school life.

Responsibilities
  • Assist class teachers in supporting pupils to expand their knowledge and contribute positively to school life.
Key Skills and Personal Qualities
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Positive, friendly and adaptable.
  • Ability to build relationships with children and demonstrate a growth mindset.
Required Qualifications and Eligibility
  • Level 3 teaching assistant apprenticeship.
  • 16 or over by the end of the summer holidays.
  • Living in England.
  • Not in full time education at the time the apprenticeship will commence.
  • Non UK citizens must have permission from the UK government to live in the UK (not for educational purposes) and have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least the previous three years before the start of the apprenticeship.
  • Evidence of English and Maths GCSE Grade C/5 or equivalent.
Additional Considerations

Prior learning: If you have prior learning e.g., a similar or higher level of qualification in relation to the apprenticeship, we will be unable to consider your application as your prior learning will not meet the funding rule criteria. If you have prior experience in a similar role to the apprenticeship, your experience may also exclude you from an apprenticeship.
