Posted 2 days 5 hours ago by Ashfords LLP
Ashfords' Construction team is seeking to recruit a Knowledge Lawyer, based in either our Exeter or Bristol office, on either a part-time or full time basis.
Our Construction team is highly regarded for delivering clear, practical and commercially focused advice on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious construction matters. The team acts for a diverse client base across the public and private sectors, including developers, contractors, consultants, funders and public bodies, on projects regionally, nationally and internationally.
As a motivated and proactive Knowledge Lawyer, you will play a central role in supporting the delivery of technically excellent and consistent advice across the team. You will keep fee earners up to date with legal developments, market practice and sector trends affecting construction law, ensuring they have access to high quality, current and relevant knowledge resources. This will involve monitoring and analysing developments in construction law, including case law, legislation and market practice, and translating these into practical guidance for the team.
You will be responsible for producing, maintaining and developing the team's internal knowledge assets, including precedents, templates, guidance notes and protocols, as well as delivering regular legal updates, training sessions and briefings. Working closely with partners and fee earners, you will identify knowledge needs, promote best practice and support effective knowledge sharing across the department.
This is a non fee earning role, and you will be part of the firm's established Knowledge Management team, providing dedicated knowledge and training support to the Construction department.
Who you areYou will be a qualified and experienced construction lawyer, ideally with 8+ years' PQE, with a strong technical understanding of construction law and the ability to apply that knowledge in a practical, commercially focused way. You will be comfortable understanding and responding to the needs of internal and external clients and committed to delivering a high standard of client care.
Highly organised and detail oriented, you will bring strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing deadlines effectively. You will be capable of developing and implementing structured systems to support knowledge delivery, while maintaining a flexible and adaptable approach in a fast paced environment.
You will enjoy working collaboratively as part of the Knowledge Management team and alongside colleagues across the Construction team. Positive, proactive and a strong team player, you will contribute at all levels of the firm and be confident in building effective working relationships with partners and colleagues. With excellent written and verbal communication skills, you will be able to influence, engage and quickly gain an understanding of different perspectives and priorities.
As a Knowledge Lawyer, you will be a valued and trusted resource for the Construction team, enjoying a varied and interesting workload and playing a key role in supporting the continued success and technical excellence of the practice.
