Job Description

Are you passionate about preparing great food and making a positive difference to people's lives? We are looking for a caring, reliable and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our catering team within our retirement housing scheme.

Working alongside ourChef, you'll help providehigh-quality mealsand excellent serviceto ourresidents while maintaininga clean, safeand welcoming kitchenenvironment. This isa rewarding rolewhere your contributionwill have areal impact onthe wellbeing anddaily lives ofolder people.

What You'll BeDoing

As a Kitchen Assistant, you will:

  • Assist theChef with thepreparation and serviceof meals.
  • Prepare food andmenu items asdirected by theChef.
  • Maintain high standardsof cleanliness throughoutthe kitchen, foodpreparation areas andrestaurant, following cleaningschedules.
  • Wash dishes andcarry out generaland deep cleaningof the kitchenand storeroom.
  • Serve residents ina friendly andrespectful manner, includinghandling cash andcard payments whererequired.
  • Help monitor stocklevels and supporteffective stock control.
  • Understand residents' dietaryrequirementsand communicate anyconcerns to theChef.
  • Ensure kitchen equipmentis clean, wellmaintained and reportany faults promptly.
  • Follow all Healthand Safety, FoodSafety and companypolicies and procedures.
  • Build positive relationshipswith residents, colleaguesandvisitors through courteousand respectful communication.

About You

We're looking forsomeone whohas:

  • Experience working ina kitchen orcatering environment.
  • Goodorganisational skills withthe ability toprioritise tasks andwork under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonaland communication skills.
  • The ability towork independently anduse initiative.
  • An understanding ofthe importance offollowingpolicies and procedures.
  • Empathy, patience anda genuine commitmentto supporting olderpeople.
  • Flexibility to meetthe needs ofthe service.
  • A commitment toequality, diversity andinclusion.
  • A full drivinglicence and accessto a vehicle(where required).
  • A Food Safetyqualification.
  • Knowledge of Healthand Safety requirementswithin a cateringenvironment.
