Job Description
The Role 
Second Chef - Care UK
Leading the team in the smooth running of the kitchen operation, developing nutritious and diet sensitive meals for residents, designing menus, managing stock and food cost, ensuring food safety compliance, and training and developing the kitchen staff.
Responsibilities- Lead the kitchen team to ensure smooth operation and meet deadlines.
- Develop and deliver nutritionally balanced, diet-sensitive menus for residents.
- Plan menus, including consultation with residents to meet their needs and choices.
- Control stock, maintain adequate inventory and adhere to food cost guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with Food Safety and Health & Safety regulations.
- Train, supervise and develop kitchen staff to maximise their potential.
- Catering Diploma (City & Guilds / BTEC) and NVQ 2/3 in practical cookery.
- Health and Safety Certificate and Food Hygiene Certificate (minimum Level 2).
- Knowledge of nutritionally balanced menu planning and experience with specific dietary needs.
- Experience in a care home kitchen and / or stock control and budgeting is desirable.
- A natural ability to help make the lives of others more fulfilling.
