Job Description
Assistant K-5 School Principal 
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
JOB GOAL: To provide leadership for the planning, development and implementation of the total K-5 program.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform the duties of the principal in the absence of the principal.
- Assist the principal in the selection, orientation, assignment, transfer, supervision, and evaluation and rating of teachers.
- Make periodic professional observations of all teachers designated by the principal.
- Receive, consider, and implement all student discipline as related to the school code of conduct.
- Keep the principal informed of methods, procedures, unusual offenses, and suspensions.
- Assist in preparing the master schedule and all procedures related to same.
- Supervise the substitute teachers to ensure building coverage.
- Assist interpreting school philosophy, objectives, teaching techniques and procedures, reporting system, etc. to the community.
- Supervise daily attendance reports.
- Determine daily who should be contacted by the attendance officer.
- Make all decisions regarding legal and illegal absences.
- Help in the preparation of requisitions, work orders and purchase orders.
- Maintain orderly conduct before, during, and after assemblies.
- Assist the principal in coordinating, evaluating, and supervising curricular and extra-curricular activities.
- Assist the principal in developing safety procedures and regulations, inspections, fire drills, and emergency procedures.
- Supervise the checking in of all supplies.
- Assume other related duties and responsibilities that may be delegated by the principal.
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal.

EquipmentUse standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
Travel RequirementsTravels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities- Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to analyze situations to define and draw conclusions.
- Ability to develop and implement projects.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to organize multiple tasks and conflicting time constraints.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to leadership, performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
Work in office and school building environments.
Qualifications- Certified as anAdministrator
- Five years experience as a K-5classroom teacher
- Such alternatives to these qualifications as the School Board may find appropriate
