Job Description
We are recruiting a Junior Residential Conveyancer to join our client's busy, client-focused residential property team. This entry-level role is ideal for someone with some conveyancing experience or legal support background who is looking to develop a career in residential property law. The successful candidate will support the team in managing a varied caseload of sales, purchases, remortgages and transfers of equity, deliver excellent client care, maintain compliant and audit-ready files and receive structured training and supervision.
Key responsibilities:- Assist with progression of a caseload of residential property matters including sales, purchases, remortgages and transfers of equity; support fee earners with tasks from instruction through to completion and follow firm procedures to ensure timely case movement.
- Provide clear, professional and timely communications to clients, lenders, estate agents, other solicitors, surveyors and third parties; update clients regularly and escalates issues to supervising fee earners as required.
- Prepare standard documentation and correspondence such as client care letters, enquiries, completion statements and post-completion forms in line with precedents; ensure accuracy and correct filing within the case management system.
- Carry out file opening and closing procedures, maintain electronic and paper files, record accurate attendance notes and ensure all documents are saved correctly and consistently.
- Undertake client identity checks and assist with anti money laundering (AML) and source of funds checks in accordance with firm policy; raise any concerns to the supervising solicitor and help maintain audit-ready records.
- Liaise with lenders and estate agents to obtain required documentation, follow up on conditions and support preparation of completion monies and financial reconciliations under supervision.
- Progress searches and assist with requisitions on title, coordinate with colleagues to prepare for exchange and completion and support post completion registration and administration tasks.
- Record time and disbursements accurately, assist with billing enquiries and provide information required for invoicing and matter budgeting as requested by supervisors.
- Identify straightforward opportunities to improve workflows, update precedents and support the adoption of practice management technology and process improvements.
- Work collaboratively with team members, seek guidance from senior colleagues and participate in training activities to develop technical skills and conveyancing knowledge.
- Some experience or exposure to residential conveyancing or property support work within a law firm, conveyancing practice or regulated environment preferred.
- Basic knowledge of the conveyancing process including searches, mortgage transactions, land registration and post completion formalities or a willingness to learn quickly.
- Good client care and communication skills with the ability to deal professionally with clients and external contacts and to elevate matters appropriately.
- Attention to detail and accuracy when preparing documents, recording file notes and handling financial information.
- Awareness of AML, client identification and source of funds checks; willingness to learn and apply regulatory and firm compliance requirements.
- Proficient IT skills including Microsoft Office and a readiness to learn case management systems and conveyancing technology tools.
- Organised, proactive and able to manage competing priorities under supervision, with a commitment to professional development.
- Previous conveyancing or paralegal experience advantageous but full training and ongoing support will be provided for the right candidate.
