Duties and responsibilities

The successful candidate will work alongside a team of experienced chemists, supporting the research, development, scale-up and commercialisation of our innovative product range.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in the development of new coating formulations using the company's patented technology.
  • Developing a strong understanding of raw materials, including their properties and interactions within formulations.
  • Formulating and testing aqueous, solvent-based, and UV-flexo coatings to evaluate performance and ensure customer requirements are met or exceeded.
  • Supporting the research and development process, from laboratory trials through to product industrialisation.
  • Ensuring project deadlines and deliverables are met in line with business and customer expectations.
  • Assisting with quality control testing and procedures to maintain product standards.
  • Working closely with the technical services and commercial teams to provide technical support when required.

Experience and qualificationsQualifications
  • A degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related scientific discipline.
Experience
  • Hands-on experience and confidence working within a laboratory environment.
  • Some formulation or laboratory experience (e.g. industrial placement, internship, graduate role, or academic research project).
  • Experience with milling or grinding technologies would be advantageous but is not essential.
Skills and Attributes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A hands-on, practical approach to laboratory work and problem-solving.
  • Ability to accurately record, analyse and interpret experimental data.
  • Strong organisation skills, with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Reliable, motivated and enthusiastic, with a proactive and self-starting attitude.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a technical team.
  • Confident in following and providing clear technical instructions and communicating effectively with colleagues and senior management.
