Joinery General Manager - Location: Derbyshire (site-based, with travel as required). Reports to: Group Managing Director / Owner. Type: Full-time, Permanent. Salary: £70,000 + Performance Bonus + Car + Benefits.

About The CompanyThe Company is a respected and growing bespoke joinery manufacturer based in Derbyshire. With a strong reputation in bespoke joinery, fire doors and heritage restoration, it serves a mix of contractors, architects, and private clients across the Midlands and beyond.
The company are at a pivotal stage of growth and are looking for a commercially driven General Manager to help lead the business into its next phase.
The RoleWe are seeking a hands-on and commercially astute General Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day running of the business, with a particular focus on commercial performance - including pricing, quoting, tendering, surveying, and key client management.
The General Manager will oversee a team of 50 employees and work closely with the Group Managing Director, Group Finance Director and company management team to deliver profitable growth, improve processes, and shape cultural excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Commercial Management: Own quoting, pricing, surveys, and design coordination
- Commercial Management: Manage tenders, key customer relationships, and contracts
- Commercial Management: Drive margin growth, pipeline development, and market visibility
- Operational Oversight: Oversee planning, scheduling, and delivery across production and install
- Operational Oversight: Support a culture of quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement
- Operational Oversight: Ensure seamless handovers between sales, manufacturing & installations
- Leadership & Strategy: Lead and develop a team of 50 across workshop, office, and site
- Leadership & Strategy: Own P&L performance and drive strategic initiatives
- Leadership & Strategy: Embed a culture of accountability, pride, and problem-solving
- Proven commercial experience in a mid-sized bespoke joinery (£3-12m T/O)
- Strong commercial acumen: pricing, client management, and margin control
- Hands-on leadership style with a track record of building effective teams
- Experience implementing or improving systems (e.g. CRM, pricing software)
- A detail orientated and organised approach to work and management
- Commercially astute, with a drive to improve margins and grow the business
- Hands-on and pragmatic, willing to roll your sleeves up
- Clear communicator and relationship builder
- Calm under pressure and solutions-focused
- Structured thinker with an eye for detail
- Salary: £70,000
- Performance Bonus: up to 20% of salary, linked to profit
- Car Allowance or Company Car
- Pension: 3% company contribution
- Holiday: 20 days + bank holidays
- Progression: Potential path to Group role, including equity
