Job Description
Role Overview

Join a dynamic team in a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. This role offers the opportunity to lead and drive the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programme, ensuring compliance, continuous improvement, and a safe, sustainable workplace.

Reporting to: General Manager

Location: Loughrea (onsite, 5 days)

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and implement the EHS programme, aligned with strategic and continuous improvement goals
  • Oversee EHS compliance, audits, and planning across all sites
  • Maintain and develop the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System
  • Manage risk assessments, hazard identification, and mitigation strategies
  • Lead and develop a team of EHS specialists
  • Oversee occupational health services and promote employee wellbeing
  • Manage emergency response planning and regular testing
  • Represent the organisation during audits and regulatory visits - HSA, Uisce Éireann, Insurance companies, Repak and Customers
  • Monitor EHS performance and report to senior leadership
  • Manage incident investigations, root cause analysis, and prevention
  • Maintain EHS procedures and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Deliver EHS training and communication programmes across the organisation
  • Ensure compliance with DGSA and contractor safety standards
  • Support sustainability and ESG reporting initiatives
  • Report EHS KPIs to senior management and the Board
Experience & Skills
  • 8+ years' experience, ideally in manufacturing
  • 4-5 years' experience in a pharmaceutical/GMP environment
  • Proven people management experience
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and regulatory knowledge
  • Excellent communication and influencing skillsKnowledge of chemical safety and project management
  • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally
Qualifications
  • Level 8 degree in Health & Safety or Environmental discipline (essential)
  • Occupational Health & Safety qualification (desirable)
