Job Description

Winthrop Technologies is Europe's only dedicated data centre delivery partner, providing full turnkey solutions from design through to construction and commissioning. Headquartered in Dublin, we deliver projects across Europe and are a trusted name within our sector.

Our expertise spans the full range of civil, structural, architectural, mechanical and electrical services, enabling consistent, high quality delivery across every project. Over the years, Winthrop has established a reputation built on technical excellence and long standing client partnerships.

IT at Winthrop operates through a lean internal team, supported by best in class external partners. This ensures high quality service delivery while retaining strong internal ownership, governance and accountability.

Your New Role - IT Operations Manager

Reporting directly to the IT Manager, you will be part of a small, high impact internal IT function, acting as the operational owner of Winthrop's IT environment. While day to day technical delivery is supported by external service providers, you will retain full ownership of operational performance, service quality and security governance.

This role offers a high degree of autonomy and visibility, with real influence over how IT is delivered across the organisation.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Responsibilities
  • IT Operations & Service Management
    • Own the day to day operational health of IT services across the organisation
    • Ensure availability, performance and resilience of critical IT systems
    • Oversee and mature incident, problem and change management processes
    • Maintain accurate operational documentation, runbooks and procedures to support consistent service delivery
  • Microsoft Platform Ownership
    • Act as the internal technical authority for the Microsoft environment, including:
Azure, Entra ID, Active Directory, Intune, Microsoft Defender Suite and M365
    • Ensure secure configuration, standardisation and lifecycle management across platforms
    • Track and interpret the Microsoft roadmap, ensuring best practice adoption aligned with business needs
  • Security & Risk Management
    • Take operational ownership of IT security controls within the Microsoft ecosystem
    • Ensure effective security across endpoint protection, identity security and cloud application governance
    • Work closely with the MSP and security partners to manage threats, incidents and remediation
    • Ensure security exceptions are risk assessed, approved, documented and reviewed
  • Vendor & Third Party Management
    • Manage key external partners including MSPs, MSSPs, SaaS and technology vendors
    • Hold suppliers accountable for SLAs, KPIs and service quality
    • Coordinate multi vendor operating models to avoid gaps or duplication
    • Ensure partners provide clear, consistent reporting and maintain up to date documentation retained internally
  • Governance, Compliance & Audit
    • Support IT governance and compliance initiatives, including ISO 27001
    • Contribute to IT and security policy development and enforcement
    • Maintain audit ready operational evidence across asset management, access controls, monitoring and incident records
    • Support risk assessments and the development of risk treatment plans

This role is ideally suited to someone who enjoys working in a structured, operationally focused environment, with ownership and accountability rather than day to day firefighting
