It is proof that at Volvo Trucks, progress is something we live and deliver.

Now we are looking for a motivated and curious individual to join us as an IT Infrastructure Apprentice, ready to learn, grow and be part of the team powering the technology that keeps Volvo Trucks moving.

  • Professional growth and development: Unlock your potential through a range of training and development opportunities, on top of the apprenticeship qualification itself.
  • Pension scheme: Matched up to 5% of your salary, including death in service cover.
  • Holiday Allowance: Start with 25 days plus Bank Holidays, increasing with service, with the option to buy up to 5 additional days.
  • Medical insurance: Access to Bupa private medical insurance
  • Employee Assistance Programme: Access wellness, mindfulness and counselling services.
  • Discounts on various purchases: Enjoy savings on shopping vouchers, cinema tickets, holidays and travel.
  • Fitness perks: Access MyGymDiscounts and MyActiveDiscounts, and use our on-site gym at Warwick.
  • Other benefits: Dental insurance, Cycle-to-work scheme and Eyecare vouchers.

You are someone who enjoys solving problems and learning new things. You have a genuine interest in technology, computers and networks, and you are eager to turn that passion into a career.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Prior work experience in an IT-related role, but looking for a qualification
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft 365 (advanced Excel skills are a bonus)
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems and common software applications
  • Familiarity with networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and wireless technologies
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and data security
  • Effective communication and organisation skills
  • A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel frequently
  • GCSE or A-Level qualifications

You will be joining a close-knit IT Infrastructure team of four who support 18 sites across the South and East. You will be working with colleagues who have completed IT apprenticeships at Volvo Trucks and will guide and mentor you as you develop your skills. You will report to the IT Manager and be part of the wider Volvo Trucks IT division in the UK.

What you'll do

As an IT Infrastructure Apprentice, you will support and deliver IT infrastructure services across multiple Volvo Truck & Bus locations. From setting up new systems to helping solve technical issues, you will be part of the team that keeps our operations running smoothly.

You will gain hands-on experience with:

  • Respond to user enquiries and provide technical assistance, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, both in person and remotely.
  • Assist in the installation and configuration of computer hardware, software, and networking equipment under the guidance of senior technicians.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to develop and maintain documentation, including system configurations, user manuals, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Supporting key IT projects such as Windows 11 migration and Wi-Fi upgrades across 18 sites
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to provide recommendations for improving IT infrastructure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manage technical administration and authorisation for new starters and leavers in a timely manner for all local and group IT systems
Please note:
